#Sharing Safety

Comments Off

Michelin North America and Katie Couric, Yahoo global news anchor and New York Times bestselling author of The Best Advice I Ever Got, are inviting America’s drivers to share their best advice and stories for staying safe on the road.

The campaign kicked off this week (National Teen Driver Safety Week) and features Couric in a video where she shares her safe-driving story and advice, and encourages drivers to do the same via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #SharingSafety hashtag.

“Sharing even simple tips like how to maintain tires could mean the difference between life or death,” said Pete Selleck, chairman and president of Michelin North America.

This campaign is the latest step in Michelin’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness of road safety. A 2014 study by Michelin found significant gaps in teen road readiness, including tire-related safety knowledge and skills. As a result, Michelin launched the Beyond the Driving Test campaign which provides resources and tips to bridge the gap between what young drivers are learning in the classroom and real-world skills they need to drive safely. The site provides a quick and easy glove box guide on basic vehicle maintenance such as checking tire tread and tire pressure, as well as links to other helpful information.

Share your best safe driving advice on social media with the #SharingSafety and invite your teen to do the same. And remember, leading by example and talking to your teen early and often about the risks and responsibilities of driving can help avoid accidents and become safe drivers.
